Following our work with Little Stoke Primary School, South Gloucestershire Council recommended us to assist the school with a series of changes to their buildings and outdoor spaces.
The projects each seek to unite the staff and student community within the various buildings. Our first step was to relocate the School Business Manager's office next to the Head's so that they could work together more collaboratively. This in turn unlocked the potential to form a new covered link between the main school building and two temporary classrooms, which had felt disconnected.
We have designed a new timber frame canopy link to achieve this, and incorporated ideas for a new ramp and stepped feature which engages this part of the school with the playground. The first element of works was completed during the summer holidays, with work to the link being undertaken soon, subject to Local Authority funding.
