Lockdown Life in the Sun - The Engine Shed

April 17, 2020

The Engine Shed in Bedminster is now fully occupied by all new residents. We hope that they are enjoying using the roof terraces, which every flat has access to in the lockdown sunshine! The ground floor fit out that was well underway by the crowd funded ethical company the Bristol Loaf and partners Hugo and Zero Green, has sadly gone on hold, but hopefully their new locally sourced super supplies will be supplied to the local community soon. With thanks to one of our project architects, Martina, whose partner Greg took these pictures on one of their afternoon exercise walks. The project re-used the previous building’s foundations, and ground floor columns so that almost no new concrete was required! A lightweight steel frame structure was added and clad using glazed tiles and engineering bricks to reflect the rich history of engineering within the Conservation area of this part of the city. A bold new addition to the high street, which is undergoing regeneration with a range of developments in this bustling area.
