rhydoldog cabins
This exciting project is for a series of small holiday cabins and a shared bathhouse; all nestled within a PAWS woodland in mid Wales.
The site is within the grounds of Rhydoldog House which is being converted into a healing retreat centre by Charlotte Church and the cabins will offer guests the chance to be immersed in the wilderness of the Cumbrian mountains; "reconnecting with yourself, with community and nature."
The site is a beautiful destination - set on a steep hillside at the head of the Elan Valley. The hillside is densely planted with western reed cedar, spruce and larch but has rocky outcrops and remnants of the old deciduous forest which make it more exciting and magical than one expects from a plantation.
The cabins and bathhouse nestle into the woodland like little creatures and provide a cosy refuge from which to explore the immediate woodland landscape as well as the moorland beyond. They are exciting structures - supported by, and built from, the surrounding trees - that encourage outdoor living and inspire an appreciation of place.
We have designed these to be site-specific using a point-cloud survey and 3D modelling.
