Portishead Gig Club approached us to assist them in developing ideas for a new boat shed and club house for their (g)rowing club!
The Local Authority provided them with an opportunity to lease land adjacent to the water, and a recently constructed compound for storing boats. We tested 3 different ideas on the site, to help explore their brief, establish potential costs, and enable engagement with the Planning Team and council consultees. Each of the ideas sought to create a low cost, flexible, and site specific response that would minimise visual impact on the site, maximise connection to the water, and enable discussions with all stakeholders to the project. Our approach to the feasibility stage of projects like this is to test a range of ideas, understand their costs and opportunities, and help clients to progress to make it reality.
