Woodham Park Road
Barefoot Architects were approached to collaborate on a project to develop proposals for a 'Custom-Build' housing project in Surrey for approximately 45 new homes. The client sought to develop land that although technically within the green belt was a former builders yard and is currently used for car storage.
Rather than solely consider their own site for development our team proposed a more strategic approach which sought to incorporate neighbouring land which is also currently used for undesirable purposes given its protected status. The result was a comprehensive masterplan which endeavoured to get the land recognised by the local authority's Strategic housing land availability assessment as a viable site for housing development.
Working with Ecos Maclean and Plan Projects the scheme is undergoing consideration by the Planning Authorities. It is intended that a development framework could be evolved which included a design guide and enabled individual plots to be purchased and developed as custom build projects.
