Salisbury Road is a project to replace a low quality existing rear extension to a fabulous Victorian house in the Redland, Bristol for a young family.
The project seeks to make an amazing new open plan family living, kitchen and dining space at the back of the house. It uses contemporary materials which reflect and respect the existing property. Cor-ten steel and new Bath Stone are being used to complement the rich red brick to the rear of the house.
This Cor-ten ribbon wraps around a new space that projects out to the garden with oversized bi-fold doors opening out to a lowered rear patio terrace. The dining space has a large flushglaze flat rooflight to provide lots of natural daylight and make it a flexible area to suit family life with young children.
We have designed significant structural alterations to enable the sunken kitchen space to be completely open to the upper level family room adjacent which has a spectacular existing bay window and tall floor to ceiling height.
