Reid House - Hitchin

This is a project for a young family who had recently moved out of central London to a spacious new home in the town of Hitchin, Hertfordshire. With a fabulous long South Facing garden which the house failed to capitalise upon, the client's sought to reconfigure and extend their home to have a better relationship with the garden. A slot of roof glazing brings light deep into the heart of the plan, whilst bifold doors connect the inside and outside seamlessly.

The existing spaces were long and thin, and the wrong way around! We proposed flipping the plan of the house so that the kitchen and dining spaces opened out on to the garden. A new 'front room' family living space is relocated facing onto the street, with an adults 'drawing room' re positioned in the middle of the plan for privacy.

We provided design services for planning consent , tender and building regulations approval with the builders completing the project overseen by the client.
