'Lightyear' was a project which Sam undertook whilst working at Feilden Clegg Bradley Studios in Bath as part of the London Festival of Architecture. It was first exhibited in the practice's office, and then later used as the centrepiece for the RIBA's 'Open' Architecture Exhibition where we suspended it from the ceiling using fine cables.

This Sculptural piece is fabricated from laser cut corrugated cardboard, and is 2.40m in diameter. Each of the total 365 No. 60cm diameter discs represents the proportion of daylight for everyday of the year in the UK (London's Latitude). It shows that far from having 4 finite seasons, we live in a constantly changing environment, where our daylight hours are always different.
