We have been appointed by a local business to consider the redevelopment of their property into a contemporary mixed use scheme. The project involves the refurbishment of the ground floor retail space into an improved commercial unit, and the creation of up to 10 flats on the two floors above.
The strategy for the project is to create a series of courtyard and roof terraced garden flats. By carving out voids into the deep plan building this creates opportunities for more daylight on several elevations, natural ventilation and good outdoor space for each of these urban dwellings. This concept enables many of the flats to have 2 bedrooms instead of just 1, and gives everyone the opportunity to step outside from their front door.
